Tonight we had our first date to the temple since we have moved to Columbus. This will be a frequent occasion for us. We are so excited! We feel so much peace in the temple, and we learn more about why we are here on this earth. Going to the temple strengthens our marriage. It helps us to grow in our love for each other and for God.
Our wonderful neighbors, the Lewis', watched John for us. (baby monitor babysitting is the best!)We actually did our bedtime routine, and we put John to bed before we left. He was quiet for five minutes before we left, so we thought that he would go down for the night. We told him we were going to the temple, and he seemed concerned, because he could understand that we were leaving.
Bryan Lewis said that John talks to himself for the first half an hour, and then he started crying. So he went over there to check on John. John was standing in his crib, and he calms down as soon as possible Bryan. John asked for him to read to him The Book of Mormon, so they read a couple verses, and then John asks for him to Sing a song. Bryan saying I am a child of God, which is a sign that we sing frequently to John. Then just as Bryan was leaving, time asked him if they could pray together. That just melts my heart!
John asked Bryan to do our whole bedtime routine again. It was a very tough day, and John was pretty crazy. But knowing how he did while we were gone comforts me so much. It helps me to know that what we are doing as parents is really working, even though it often does not feel like it.
John loves the Scriptures, he loves to sing, and he knows that he can find comfort in praying to his heavenly father, because he is a child of God.
