Seth started off the day playing flag football (a yearly tradition). It was cold and snowy. He enjoyed it and said the won, soundly. I was thankful there were no injuries.
Then for Thanksgiving dinner, we had our friend Ivan Tseng over to our house. A few years ago, he was studying English in the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) I taught in at Cleveland State University. Since then he has finished his Masters in Teaching English as a Second Language (like me) and has begun teaching in the IELP. This is his last year here, and he'll return to Taiwan soon. We were so happy that he could come join our feast with us.
He adores John. They are buddies, and they hung out together the whole time.
We were also very blessed to have the Missionaries, Sister Nelson (left) and Sister Wygant join us. It was a nice party. Everyone was so helpful, especially John - well, at least he was really cute.
This year we had a traditional Thanksgiving Feast, but we just made it with lots more nutritional value than normal. And it was a hit! Especially for John.
John's favorite was probably the Apple Butternut Squash Casserole. You can find that recipe HERE as well as recipes for my gravy, stuffing, and apple crisp on my food blog: http://wagnerwaytohealth.blogspot.com/ This was actually John's first Thanksgiving that he could eat anything we made! I'm glad he loved it.
(Apparently I wasn't considering the double chin factor that would be caused by smiling that big in this picture... but it's still a pretty good family shot)
At the end of the day, we were all tuckered out from a nice quiet family Thanksgiving.
We have much to be grateful for, and we count our blessings often. Happy Thanksgiving!
