Sure Answers to Prayer

This weekend is one of my very favorites of the year! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is having it's semi-annual General Conference on Saturday and Sunday. (at 12:00pm and 4:00pm EST on Saturday and Sunday on lds.org) We believe that God has called a living prophet and 12 apostles (just like Christ called in His time, but these are specifically to help us in our day) to teach and guide us.

I always gain so much hope, courage and perspective from listening to these inspired messages. I felt like the last General Conference was meant just for me. There was a talk specifically about how to best respond when mental or emotional challenges confront you or those you love“God's love never changes. … It is there for you when you are sad or happy, discouraged or hopeful. God’s love is there for you whether or not you feel you deserve [it]. It is simply always there.”

And here are a couple gems from Conference that have really helped me get through these last 6 months:

Our destiny is not determined by the number of times we stumble but by the number of times we RISE UP, DUST OURSELVES OFF, and MOVE FORWARD. ~ Pres. Dieter F. Uchtdorf, “You CanDo It Now,”

Our Heavenly Fatherwho gives us so much to delight in,
also knows that we learn and grow and become stronger
as we face and survive the trials through which we must pass.
We know that there are times when we will experience heartbreaking sorrow,
when we will grieve, and when we may be tested to our limits.
However, such difficulties allow us to change for the better,
to rebuild our lives in the way our Heavenly Father teaches us,
and to become something different from what we were—
better than we were,
more understanding than we were,
more empathetic than we were,
with stronger testimonies than we had before.
"I Will Not Fail Thee, Nor Forsake Thee" Pres. Thomas S. Monson, (our prophet)

No matter what stage of life I am at, every time I listen to conference, I hear and feel sure answers to my prayers. I can promise to those who will pray and then listen to conference truly seeking answers and comfort and peace, and who listen with an open heart and mind will surely receive what they seek.
If you are interested, you are welcome to watch anytime this weekend on lds.org
